Home/Knowledge Base/Batch Number Registration
How does serial or batch number registration work?
Batch or serial number registration in the warehouse.
Batch registration means that products are registered in the WMS as a single group (or at the order-pick-line level) during the outbound process. This is done using a unique code, also known as a batch, lot, or serial number. This number is assigned to a specific group of products or order-pick-line and will be used during the outbound process to identify and register that group.
Why is batch registration important?
Batch tracking is essential for efficiently and accurately managing or recording inventory as it leaves the warehouse. By tracking products, they can be more easily traced after the logistics process is complete. This makes it possible to quickly and accurately determine the location and status of a specific batch of products. As a result, any errors or issues can be identified and resolved more quickly.
How does batch registration work?
During batch registration, barcodes are used to scan the batch number and record it in our system. This process takes place when a shipment of products leaves the warehouse. The batch number is then linked to the relevant customer at the order level in the WMS. This makes it immediately clear which products from which batch were sold to that customer, allowing action to be taken if necessary.
Benefits of batch registration.
Batch registration offers several benefits. In addition to enabling efficient inventory tracking, it can also help identify and recall products in the event of a problem or defect.
Because each batch has a unique number, they can be easily traced, and swift action can be taken to minimize any risks.
