Insurance NL
Within the Netherlands, insurance does not apply to packages.

Insurance EU
Within the EU, a package can be insured for a maximum of €500 (purchase value).

Shipment weight
The maximum allowed weight per package is 31.5 kg.

Dimensions of the shipment
The maximum permitted length is 1.75 m per package.
The maximum permitted dimensions per package in the Netherlands are 175x78x58 cm.
The maximum permitted dimensions per package in the EU are 300 cm (1xL + 2xW + 2xH).

Terms and Conditions for PostNL Letterbox Packages

Insurance Within the Netherlands, insurance for mailbox packages does not apply.

The weight of the shipment
The maximum allowed weight per package is 2 kg.

Shipment dimensions
Minimum dimensions in the Netherlands: 14x10x1 cm.
Maximum dimensions in the Netherlands: 38x26.5x3.2 cm.

Order processing
Orders are processed Monday through Friday until 10:00 PM.
* = Orders that can be shipped as a Letterbox Package and are received by 3:30 PM will be processed by 10:00 PM. After 3:30 PM, delivery will no longer be the next day, but the day after.

Rates The rates are calculated based on: the base price + a surcharge per kilogram (rounded to the nearest whole kilogram).

Insurance A package can be insured for up to €200 (purchase value).

The weight of the shipment
The maximum allowed weight per package is 20 kg.

Shipment dimensions
Minimum dimensions: 10x10x1 cm.
Maximum dimensions: 100x50x50 cm.
Maximum circumference: 300 cm (1xL + 2xW + 2xH) per package.

PostNL Surcharges

Energy Surcharge The Energy Surcharge is a variable surcharge per package (parcel) intended to cover rising fuel and energy costs. These costs include diesel, HVO 100, gas, and electricity used in the package delivery process. When current fuel and energy prices rise or fall, the Energy Surcharge rises or falls accordingly. Peak Surcharge PostNL charges a Peak Surcharge for all parcels submitted for transport during the Peak Period specified in advance by PostNL. The Peak Period falls within the last two months of the calendar year and lasts for a total of up to 6 weeks (i.e., 42 days). Dm3 surcharge: >100dm3
This surcharge is €2.50.

Dm3 surcharge: >200 dm3
This surcharge is €5.95.

Maximum package dimensions (circumference)
PostNL applies a maximum package circumference of 300 cm. Below is an example showing how to calculate the circumference.

Total package dimensions: 300 cm (= 1xL + 2xW + 2xH)

Non-standard processing
A surcharge of €4.95 per processing will be charged for non-standard processing*

Criteria for non-standard processing
A shipment has the following characteristics:

• Larger than: 100x70x58cm**
• Smaller than: 10x10x1cm
• Weight between 23 and 31.5 kilograms**
• Contents: glassware, flowers, and marked 'Fragile’
• Shape: tubes and other packaging forms where the label cannot be applied horizontally
• Address and barcode not affixed to the largest side
• Packaging: wood, metal, or sealed packages (bubble wrap or stretch film)
• Combined shipment
• Unsecured packaging (contents may shift)

*Excluding Germany and France. For these countries, a surcharge of €10.60 and €8.48 applies, respectively.
**If any of the variables are exceeded, the “Exceeding maximum package dimensions” surcharge applies. This amounts to €83.12 per package.
