What is the difference between B2B and B2C distribution?

B2C deliveries are made to consumers. B2B deliveries are made to businesses. Key differences include order size and order processing time. In B2C, we often refer to “fine-mesh distribution.” These are orders consisting of a few order lines and items. Products are often sold to consumers with a “Next Day” delivery promise.

B2B orders often consist of multiple order lines and items, resulting in multi-package or pallet shipments. Order processing takes longer, and customer order times are often scheduled to ensure, for example, that store inventory is replenished for a specific period.

Consumer purchases are often impulsive, repeat purchases, driven by a specific need, or made in response to a promotional period.
